LAMINATED GLASS

Laminated glass is the type of glass used for a car windshield. It has two layers of glass bonded together by a separating layer of sticky plastic-like material. Laminated glass side windows are rare and are usually found only on upscale cars since there is generally a premium price paid for this option. You might find laminated glass on a BMW, for example. Multiple laminations are used for bullet proof glass.

If ResQMe were used on a laminated glass window it will only crack the one layer of glass where the tool was able to make an impact. The remaining layer(s) of glass and separators would not be broken, so they would would either stop your escape, or make it far more difficult.

TINT FILM

Automotive glass with a tint film has a tinted layer of plastic adhered to one side of the glass. The tint is stuck to the interior side. Since the tinted side is plastic, it is far softer than glass and can easily be scratched whereas glass is difficult to scratch. People and businesses who apply glass tint film can help you identify what you have or a mini test scratch could be made in an obscure corner using steel wool. The tint film is really thin and presents no obstacle to ResQMe, as it should easily crack the layer of glass underneath it. All the little shards of tempered glass will be stuck to the tint film and can be pushed out together.
